The Truro Bearcats have acquired defenseman Brant King and forward Jacob Cook from the Edmundston Blizzard for defenseman Zach Welsh.
Zach Welsh, an 18-year-old, was selected by Truro in the 8th Round, 114th overall, in the 2019 MHL Entry Draft. In his rookie season of 2019-20, Welsh had four assists in 44 games. He spent last season with the Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL and played four games this season with the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
Brant King was traded from the Valley Wildcats to Edmundston in November and played just four games with the Blizzard. In 14 games this season, the 21-year-old has five assists. Playing the last two seasons in Valley, King compiled six goals and 26 assists in 79 games.
Jacob Cook is a 17-year-old forward from Guysborough, N.S. who has six goals and ten assists in 27 games this season with the Cape Breton West Islanders. He was selected in the 7th Round, 75th overall, but Edmundston in last summer’s MHL Entry Draft.
