Bearcat Bytes: Tanner Greatorex

#12 Tanner Greatorex
18-year-old Defenseman
Truro, NS
5’11”, 176 lbs.

Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to rookie defenceman, Tanner Greatorex. Since the season began, he has soaked in all he could about the junior game. His transition has been a good one, marked last Saturday with his first junior goal in Valley. Added to the significance, it proved to be the winning tally.

He came up through the Truro Minor Program to the Bantam level where he spent two seasons with the Major Bantam Bearcats. Next up was a two-year stint in Pictou County with the Weeks Midgets. The first year was a growth year, physically, defensively, and offensively. In February of that year, he participated in the Canada Games with Team Nova Scotia and in June was drafted as a Territorial choice by the Bearcats and selected by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Last year, his leadership qualities earned him the spot of team Captain of the Weeks squad. He’s handled his junior responsibilities well and is developing into a reliable rearguard.
