Bearcat Bytes: Dell Welton

#20 Dell Welton
18-year-old
Defenseman
Baddeck, NS
6’2”, 168 lbs.

Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to sophomore, Dell Welton. He didn’t pick up any points in Truro’s lone game of the week, a 7-4 win over the Summerside Capitals, but he continued to provide steady defensive zone coverage against some very offensive Capitals. He’s clearly developing into a reliable young blueliner.

He came up through the Nova Jr. X-men Major Bantam program, displaying an offensive flair the second season picking up 13 goals and 12 helpers. Next up were two years with the Cape Breton West Islanders Major Midgets, drawing attention from both the Truro Bearcats and Charlottetown Islanders, both drafting him in 2018. He had a solid rookie season with Truro last year and dressed for 7 Islander games as well. He has a strong skill set, always comfortable with the puck. He gained experience playing forward, showing his versatility.

SCHEDULE LENGTHENED
The MHL decision to extend the season means Truro picked up an additional home game (March 30th vs Yarmouth) and a pair of road games in April.
