There is never any shortage of excitement when Eastlink South competition is in town.
The Bearcats and Mariners always play each other tough. In Friday’s game, the Bearcats were on the verge of a win but short on experience when it mattered most.
The last three minutes of the game were played in Truro’s end. The visitors tied, then scored the winner. Game over.
The game proved two things – it’s not over until it’s over, and, there is no such thing as a bad shot on net.
Saturday, the Bearcats scored a pair in the first period, then rode solid goaltending to record a great bounce-back win.
Shutouts are hard to come by. Everyone has a part in it and mistakes have to be minimalized. It was a good night, against one of the team’s closest rivals.
The Bearcats came out of the weekend placing doubt in the minds of one competitor, and extending a win streak over the other. It’s all good.
At the MHL Showcase in Pictou County, the Bearcats celebrated Thanksgiving Day with a 3 – 1 win over the Miramichi Timberwolves. All twelve MHL teams participated in the two day event.
This Friday, the MHL defending Champions are at the RECC for a 7:00 pm start against the Bearcats. This will be the Edmundston Blizzards’ only regular season visit to Truro.
The Blizzard were a massive success on and off the ice in their first season in Edmundston. They will find that wearing a target on the backs guarantees the opposition’s best efforts.
Next Wednesday, the Bearcats are at the RECC to face the South Shore Lumberjacks. The return visit is set for the following night in Bridgewater – keeps memories fresh.
The Lumgerjacks have a strong nucleus of returning forwards. The first head-to-head matchup with the Bearcats will be telling.
The RECC and Titan security are in the process of instituting Facility Policy Adjustments for events at that facility. The Bearcats ask that fans familiarize yourself with these changes through RECC signage.
