Bearcat-of-the-Week honours go to rookie goalie, Frédéric Plourde. He backstopped the Bearcats to two victories, picking up his first MHL Shutout and postseason win in Bridgewater, then followed up with the OT win in Yarmouth. He turned aside 65 of 69 shots to accomplish the feat. Over the course of the season, he started 8 games, winning 4. As a backup, he’s shown he’s always ready to go.
Honourable mention goes to forwards, Holden Kodak and Ben Sheffar. In the win over the Lumberjacks, Kodak was on the top of his game assisting on two and scoring while short-handed. The Cloverdale, BC, native has been steady from the get-go and gaining time on both special teams.
Lower Sackville native, Ben Sheffar, scored two in the win over the Mariners, including the OT winner. As a member of Truro’s energy line, he’s used to playing in the opposition’s end. These were huge goals. Truro acquired his playing rights from Miramichi in January 2020.
