Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to goalie, Mavrick Goyer. The Bearcats acquired his playing rights in December via a trade with Summerside which saw twenty year-old, Felix Ethier, go to the Capitals. The Bearcats also landed rookie defenceman, Josh Steele. In Goyer’s three appearances he picked up a pair of wins while suffering an OT loss. He and returnee, Frederic Plourde, are doing their jobs.
He spent three seasons of school hockey with Ecole Secondaire de Mirabel. In the 2019-2020 season he suited up with A 21 Academy U-18, playing in Windsor, ON. In 21 games in the CAHS he compiled an impressive 2.19 GAA. In last year’s abbreviated MHL season he played three Capital games, gaining two wins. Before the trade, he played 10 games with Summerside, winning seven, including two shutouts. He came to Truro looking for more ice time on a younger team. Truro’s first trade of the season was a good one.
