20, Forward

The Bearcat–of-the–Week honours went to 20 year-old forward Shawn Bily. He assisted on Truro’s opening goal then followed up with the game’s winner in the final minute of the first period in last Saturday’s 3-1 home-opener win over the Valley Wildcats.

He got his hockey start in his hometown then was on the move to the U16 New Jersey Jr. Titans. In 2014 he was drafted by the Erie Otter (OHL) nand the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders (USHL). He suited up with the Otters for the 2014 – 2015 season and remained in the program through to the 2016 – 2017 when, after 36 games that season was traded to the Quebec Ramparts for the final 26 games of that season. Last year, he suited up with the Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL) picking up 23 points in 29 games. This acquisition gives the Bearcats valuable Major Junior experience to complement a young, but skilled offence. Already, he’s been a good fit.
