Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to forward, Kyle Sexton. In the 4 – 3 win over the Grand Falls Rapids, Sunday, he scored midway through the final period, then scored the winner early in the OT session. That capped off a three game weekend where the Bearcats needed a boost. He helped deliver it.

He got his hockey start in the Tor Bay, NL program before a family move brought him to the Bedford Minor Association’s Major Bantam Barons. Next up were three years of Major Midget, the first with Newbridge, then a pair with the Dartmouth squad. His team experienced two Telus Cup appearances and in his final midget year he responded with 27 goals and 20 assists. The 2016 Yarmouth pick split last year between the South Shore Lumberjacks and the St. Stephen Aces. The Bearcats acquired his rights from the Aces in August. Physicality makes some players difficult to play against. So, too, does speed. The latter is a real asset to the Bearcats.

This Sunday, the Bible Hill Kinsmen – Bearcat Teddy Bear Toss is scheduled for the 2:00 pm game. Put the Teddy Bear in a plastic Bag, toss it on the ice when the Bearcats first score on the Timberwolves.
