Bearcat Banter: Keep Pedal To Metal

A pair of wins on the weekend make it seven straight victories for the month.

That run is even more significant considering five were on the road.

Friday, at the RECC, the Bearcat forecheck hemmed in the visiting Grand Falls Rapids for much of the first two periods, allowing Truro to enter the second intermission with a three goal lead on goals from Callum Aucoin, Rylan Sutherland and Drew Keiver.

Grand Falls showed why they were leading the North Division with a strong pushback in the final period, scoring three and raising concern.  Eli Baillargeon, however, scored two to solidify a 5-3 Bearcat win.  This was his third two-goal game in the last three outings.

Saturday, in Miramichi, the Bearcats took the lead late in the second period and never relinquished it enroute to a 4-3 win.

Offensively, Truro was led by defenceman, Jayden Connors, who scored two and assisted on another.  Aucoin, with his 18th of the season, and Austin Hoyt, with the winner completed Bearcat scoring.

Both games were solid Bearcat efforts.  The tandem of Louca Connolly and Sam Berthiaume each picked up a win.  The powerplay was good on three of nine chances.  Timely goals and quality chances were both very evident.

The Bearcats enter the final weekend of November second in the South Division with 31 points, three behind Summerside and three up on the Amherst Ramblers.  Pictou County sits fourth with 24 points, followed by Yarmouth and Valley with 23 and 10 points respectively.

The Standings show Summerside, Truro and Amherst with 8-2 records over the last ten (10) games, tops in the MHL.

Congrats to the Bearcats named to the Eastlink South All-Star team set to play the North, December 10th in Yarmouth.  Jake Todd, Tristan St. Gelais, Louca Connolly and Jayden Connors will represent the Bearcats.

The Bearcats have three big ones coming up the week, all on the Road.  Thursday they’re in Summerside.  Each has a win in their two meetings.

Saturday, they’re in Edmundston, then Sunday (3:30) in Grand Falls.  Truro has a win against both this month.

This year, the Bible Hill Kinsmen request your support in a Toque Toss at Friday, December 5th Game.  They have moved on from the Teddy Bear Toss to the Toque Toss.
