The Canadian Tire Cup Playoffs are well underway.
It’s that time of year where wins count the most. That’s what it’s all about.
Coming into this week, the Truro Bearcats found themselves down two games. A break here, and a bounce there, things could be different.
In the opening game in Yarmouth, the Bearcats had a strong first period. Penalties surfaced in the second and momentum went south.
Penalties are like gifts to the Mariners. In that game, they scored three on four opportunities. You can’t make things easier for them.
In Game 2, the Bearcats were solid, and perhaps out-chanced the Mariners by game’s end. They didn’t outscore them and that’s the difference.
Except for the final fourteen seconds of the game, it was Truro’s game to win. The Bearcats played the way they needed to play.
You couldn’t have asked for a much better effort from the troops and there was no indication what was to come.
The team gave itself the chance to win but ultimately the final seconds failed them – a tough loss.
The Bearcats challenged the Mariners straight up. While the Mariners did score a powerplay goal, Truro’s PK unit nullified four other chances.
Games are built around time and space. To a large extent the Bearcats dictated that aspect of the game and the shots coming their way.
The bottom line is simple. The Bearcats enter the week down two but they have plenty of positives to build upon.
That’s the challenge for the week. Bottle the good things and move forward. That’s why games are played.
Tonight’s game is in the must win category. The players appreciated the support last Saturday. They could feel it and wanted something better for it.
Game Time – 7:00 pm – Be there.
