Bearcat Banter: Back on the home front

The Truro Beacats returned from New Brunswick with a pair of victories tucked away.

The Bearcats needed those wins and pure persistence enabled them to find a way to earn both. It felt good.

In Campbellton, Friday, the Bearcats clawed out of a two goal deficit, then scored the last four goals of the game.

Truro had been victims of their own mistakes many times this season. In this game, they made the opposition pay.

Saturday, in Miramichi, the Bearcats came from behind twice to garner the win. They scored four goals in the final frame to get it done.

Road wins don’t come easily. Conditions were such that the team could have settled for being close. Not this weekend.

They stuck to the game plan, played as a group, hung together and got the job done. Good on them.

A quick look at the Standings show the Bearcats are hanging tough, considering twelve of their 16 games have been on the road. Most teams can’t match that Stat.

There’s plenty of work yet to be done, and the process of getting better never ends. Never giving up is a big part of any success.

Friday and Saturday (yes home games) will have Bearcats sporting their Pink In The Rink jerseys. All bids must be made by texting 902-986-8287. Follow the Bid Tracker on the Bearcat website. (

Valley and Truro hook up for their third meeting of the season this Friday (7:00). The Wildcats won the previous two by the closest of margins.

Turning that around is the Bearcat goal, to provide some separation and to inch up in the standings. Manageable goals at that.

The Lumberjacks have appeared in the CJHL’S Top 20 rankings a few times this year. They’re big, deep and Saturday’s opponent (7:00). Truro and South Shore have split their previous two meetings. Truro has shown they match up well.

Monday, the Bearcats will be in Amherst to meet the Ramblers (7:00). Amherst won the previous two (2-1, 4-3 SO), both in Amherst.

The Bearcats are working hard at their game. Wins have been difficult to get, but just maybe they have figured it out.

See you at the RECC.
