Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to rookie defenceman, Simon Mullen. He’s one of seven rookies in the Bearcat lineup that started their junior careers last October. Like each, he’s gearing up for his first playoff run.
He came up through the Truro Bearcat Major Bantam Program where he spent two seasons, displaying an offensive flair. In his second year he was named to the First All-Star team, the first non-forward from Truro to receive such an honour. Last year, he played with the Weeks Midgets, scoring 5 goals, and assisting on 8 others. The Bearcats selected him as a Territorial last June. He reported to camp with a high hockey IQ to go along with good size. To date, he’s appeared in 29 of Truro’s 36 games, picking up his first Junior goal in Yarmouth in November. This is an exciting time for all, especially the rookies.
