It was a different weekend.
All attention was focused on the MHL Trade Deadline which wrapped up Saturday evening. This concluded a busy week when all MHL teams made changes, not all for the same reason.
Sunday, two of the three scheduled games were postponed due to weather and travel advisories. Included was Truro’s lone game of the week, against Pictou County, as well as the West Kent – Chaleur game.
Summerside managed to get to Yarmouth on Sunday, coming away with a 4-3 win. The Capitals remained in the area for a rare Monday night game against the Valley Wildcats.
The Bearcats entered this week tied with Summerside with 51 points a piece at the top of MHL Standings. Following in the Eastlink South Division are Pictou County and Amherst with 41 points, Yarmouth (33) and Valley (21).
Truro has a pair of huge Divisional games this week. First up is the trip to Summerside to face the Capitals on Thursday. In their six meetings to date the Bearcats have come out on top four times.
It will be interesting to see how the new look Capitals mesh. No hosting Centennial Cup team wants to enter the National Championships through the back door.
Saturday, the Bearcats will be in Amherst for their fifth meeting of the year with the Ramblers. Each has two wins to their credit.
There’s plenty of parity in both Divisions right now. All games matter and there will be a battle to the finish.
