The final days of February remained busy for the Bearcats.

Saturday, before a lively crowd, the Bearcats jumped to a three
goal lead and never looked back giving the team five wins in the six
meetings with the South Shore Lumberjacks.

The visitors put forth a good effort but were outshot by a wide
margin. The Lumberjacks are scheduled back on Tuesday for a
makeup game. The final meeting between them is scheduled for
March 3, in Bridgewater.

Weather postponed the Friday game with Yarmouth but teams
agreed to meet Monday to complete their scheduled head-to -head
matchups. After a strong first period by both teams, the Bearcats fell victim
to weak puck management and poor decisions giving unnecessary
opportunities to the Mariners.

Accountability is a big part of success. The Bearcats accepted
that and went to work showing the fan faithful that playing with heart
and for the letter on the jersey matters.

At the end of the day, the OT win was a character win by a
determined team. If these two meet in a future series this year, it
should be a dandy.

This Thursday, the Bearcats are in New Glasgow to square off,
for the final time in regular play, with the Crushers. The Bearcats were
victorious in five of the previous meetings.
The Crushers are currently in fourth spot in the South Division
coming into this week but the third spot remains a possibility.

That’s all the Crushers need to know to bring their “A” game
against the Bearcats. It clearly has ramifications.

Next Tuesday (March7), the Bearcats host the Valley Wildcats.
Truro has won four of the six meetings with the Wildcats, with the
final meeting set for Berwick on March 11, to conclude Turro’s regular
season.

The possibility of Truro and Valley meeting in the first round is a
real one. These two upcoming meetings could be interesting.

The Bearcats’ final home game is scheduled March 10, against
the Amherst Ramblers. Significant is the Hospice Fund Raiser which
involves a Hospice Jersey Auction of specially designed jerseys worn
by the Bearcats in that game.

Bidding starts 7:00 pm March 8 and ends 10:00 pm on March 10.
Check the Bearcat website or Facebook for the link to the Auction
site.

Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to forward Landon Miron
who scored two including the OT winner.
