Steele commits to Plymouth State University

The Truro Bearcats have announced that defenseman Josh Steele has committed to Plymouth State University, an NCAA Division III program.

The 20-year-old from Odessa, Florida spent two seasons in the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL). He joined the Summerside Western Capitals for the start of the 2021-22 season and registered two assists in ten games before being dealt to Truro in December. From there, Steele had one goal and eight assists in sixteen games to end the regular season. He scored twice and added six assists for the Bearcats in the playoffs as they advanced to the league final. He was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week once.

In 2022-23, Steele was sixth in scoring among MHL defensemen at 38 points with ten goals and 28 assists and was named to the Eastlink South’s Team of the Week twice. In the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs, Steele had one assist in nine games.
