The Truro Bearcats are pleased to announce that 20 year old captain Zach Marquis has committed to play hockey with the Ontario Tech University Ridgebacks for the 2025/26 season.
The Lévis, Quebec product was a three year veteran of the QMJHL with both Rouyn-Noranda and Quebec before coming to Truro for his final junior season. His crowning achievements included both a QMJHL and Memorial Cup championship in the 2022/23 season with the Remparts.
Zach has brought a wealth of experience and leadership to our group which has also led to individual success on the ice. At the time of his commitment, he currently leads the Bearcats with 38 points in 38 games and is set to eclipse the 20 goal mark with his next tally. Marquis is currently just outside the top 20 in league scoring.
Bearcats Head Coach Jon Greenwood had this to say on Marquis “We are thrilled to see Zach continue his hockey journey at a great school in Ontario Tech. Zach has been a tremendous player and leader since arriving in Truro and his game is still growing.”
Zach also spoke on his commitment and his time in Truro “Committing to OTU is a great opportunity for me to study at a great university while also playing the sport I love. Truro has been a fantastic place for me to develop, not only as a hockey player but also as a person, with an amazing staff. This year will help me significantly in reaching the next level and growing as an individual.”
Ontario Tech University is based in Oshawa, Ontario and competes in the OUA conference. Currently this season, there are a handful of MHL alumni playing with OTU including former Bearcats Ben Diamond(21/22) and Logan Camp(18/19).
The organization would like to congratulate Zach on this next step in his hockey career!
