The Truro Bearcats are pleased to announce that defenseman Brant King has committed to Concordia University of Edmonton.
The 20-year-old from Lower Sackville, N.S. played for three teams over the course of three seasons in the MHL. King was drafted in the 3rd Round, 48th overall, by the Edmundston Blizzard in the 2018 MHL Entry Draft. He played in one game for the Blizzard during the 2018-19 season and was traded to the Valley Wildcats before the start of the 2019-20 season. In his first full season, King tallied three goals and fifteen assists in 47 games for Valley. The following season, he had three goals and eleven assists in 32 games for Valley. He was also named one of the league’s Players of the Week twice in 2020-21.
King had five assists in ten games for the Wildcats to start the 2021-22 season before he was dealt back to Edmundston in early November. King played just four games for the Blizzard before being acquired by Truro ahead of the trade deadline in January. With the Bearcats, he had one goal and eight assists in twelve games to close out the regular season. King tallied eleven assists in seventeen games during the Canadian Tire Cup Playoffs, placing him third in scoring among all defensemen, as Truro won the Eastlink South Division.
The Bearcats congratulate King on his post-secondary commitment.
