Falkenham Promoted To Head Coach Of Bearcats

We are very pleased to announce Ryan Falkenham as the new Head Coach of the Truro Bearcats.
Falkenham is going into his third season with the organization, previously an Assistant Coach brought in by Jon Greenwood at the start of the 2024/25 season. Prior to his time with the Bearcats, Falkenham held positions in coaching with the Drummondville Voltigeurs, Dalhousie Tigers, Citadel High School and the South Shore Lumberjacks Junior B club.
“I’m honoured to lead this group and grateful for the trust this organization has placed in me. We’ve built a strong culture here, and with a committed returning core, I’m excited to continue building on last season’s success.” said Falkenham.”
The former Halifax Moosehead captain has a clear understanding of the Bearcats philosophy and combined with his leadership qualities as both a player and a coach makes him the right fit for the Bearcats next chapter.
Ryan’s predecessor, Jon Greenwood had this to say on Falkenham “I’m happy for Ryan. He’s a young but experienced coach who’s more than ready for this opportunity.”
Falkenham is set to take over for Greenwood who will be moving on to the Head Coach of Dalhousie University fresh off of a Metalfab MHL cup championship.
“Ryan Falkenham has earned this opportunity through his hard work, dedication, and the respect he’s built within our organization and throughout our dressing room. Ryan played a key role in helping bring an MHL championship back to Truro, and we believe he is the right person to continue building on the culture and success we’ve established here with the Bearcats. He understands what it means to represent this community, and we’re excited to see him lead our team into the next chapter.” says Team Governor, Dave Higgins.

Ryan’s first big event as Head Coach will be the upcoming MHL Draft in Campbellton at the end of June. He will work with GM Jamie Barbour and the scouting staff to identify targets for drafting and recruiting as they look to defend the MHL championship in the 2026/27 season.
