Truro, NS – The Truro Bearcats announced Thursday that Jon Greenwood has accepted a job offer to become the new Head Coach of the Dalhousie Tigers Men’s Hockey team.

Over the past two seasons, Jon has been an outstanding leader, guiding us back to an MHL championship. We’re grateful for everything he’s done in Truro and wish him and his family nothing but continued success in this next chapter.” said Team Governor, Dave Higgins.

While I’m disappointed to be leaving, I’m proud to have helped deliver a championship to the town of Truro. To my daily support staff — Ryan, Ryan, Rusty, Claira, Karen, Justin, and Noah — thank you for all your efforts in making my job easier. Lastly, and most importantly, to the players: your commitment and effort amazed me every week. Your trust and buy-in to practice, prepare, and play at a high level was exceptional. Thank you. TRUST, TOGETHER, TEAM FIRST.” said Coach Greenwood on his time in Truro.
Greenwood was named Head Coach of the Truro Bearcats in late May of 2024 and in his two seasons with the club amassed an overall record of 78-46-5-2. He led the team to the division final in his first year before culminating in Truro’s best season in nearly a decade. This season, the Bearcats tied for first in the league with a record of 34-14-3-1 before defeating Pictou County, Summerside and Edmundston en route to their first league championship in 9 years.
The Bearcats will head to Summerside, PEI next week for the 2026 Centennial Cup where Coach Greenwood will finish up his tenure with the Bearcats.
