After the signing of a trio of 19 year old forwards over the past couple of days, the Bearcats have continued to bolster up, acquiring 20 year old QMJHL veteran defenceman, Philippe Fauchon from Grand Falls and 20 year old forward, Owen Sparkes from Amherst.
Fauchon, of Lévis, QC was a 2020 draft pick of the QMJHL’s Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and has spent the past 3 seasons in the Q, appearing in 171 career games totalling 25 points from the back end.
The smooth skating, two-way defenceman will bring a wealth of experience and leadership to our blue line which already features fellow 20 year olds Tyler Guy and Cam McKenzie.
Fauchon will be reunited with fellow Lévis resident, Zach Marquis in Truro. The two grew up playing AAA hockey up until the Q.
Sparkes, a resident of Bay Roberts, NL is coming off a stellar rookie season with the Ramblers, appearing in 49 games tallying 11 goals and 15 assists. Sparkes added 2 goals and 2 assists in 11 playoff games.
Prior to his time in Amherst, Owen had an excellent 3 season run with the Tri-Pen Osprey in U18 putting up 89 points in 88 games.
Sparkes then elected to stay close to home for the 2022/23 season playing in the SJJHL scoring at a rapid pace with 25 goals in 24 games. Welcome both Philippe, Owen and their families to the Truro Bearcats organization!
