The Truro Bearcats are pleased to announce the signing of 18 year old Stellarton, Nova Scotia native Lucas Canning. Lucas was originally a 10th round pick of the Bearcats in 2020 and a 2nd round pick of the Cape Breton Eagles in the 2020 QMJHL draft. Canning came up through the Wearwell Bombers U15 program in Pictou County before moving on to the Weeks Majors U18 club where as a rookie he finished the 2019-2020 season tied for most goals in the league (30G in 34GP). He then went on to the QMJHL as a 16 year old where he played 84 games over 3 seasons with Cape Breton and Quebec. Welcome to Truro, Lucas!
