The Truro Bearcats are pleased to announce the signing of 19 year old old forward, Luke McPhee and the return of 19 year old forward, Liam Welsh for the 2024/25 season.
McPhee of Cole Harbour is a former 3rd round QMJHL pick of the Moncton Wildcats and has over 70 games of Q experience over the past 2 seasons split between Moncton, Cape Breton and most recently, Halifax.
Luke describes himself as a “hard nosed power forward who brings speed and energy to the game.” He’s looking forward to the season ahead in Truro!
Welsh of Halifax was a draft pick of his hometown Mooseheads back in 2021 and would spend the 2022/23 season with them.
After acquiring his rights at the beginning of last season, Liam started the year with us in Truro and he flourished, playing in all situations and putting up 34 points in 28 games during the first half of the season.
This led to Liam being recalled by the Mooseheads for the second half of the year, where would appear in 40 games.
Liam says “I’m super excited to be back in Truro, fans can expect a skilled forward who likes to play physical.”
