Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to goalie, Mavrick Goyer. To date, in this Canadian Tire Cup run, he’s played all 16 Bearcat games, posting a 9 wins and 7 loss record. Coming into this week, he compiled a 2.64 GAA and an impressive 0.923 SV%. Stats show he stopped 528 of the 572 shots directed at him. No player has been more valuable to his team than Goyer.
Goaltending has always been a Bearcat strength. Goyer was named MHL Goaltender of the Year, making him the seventh Bearcat to receive that Award. Other winners: Matt Climie (03-04), Darcy Stewart (06-07), Pierre Alexandre Marion (07-08), Kirk Rafuse (09-10), Shayne Campbell (12-13), Jacob Fancy (2015-2016). In Truro’s inaugural season re-entering the junior ranks, Chris Wilcox was named League MVP. Matt Iorianni received that Award in 2004-2005. Goyer is in good company.
