Bearcat Bytes: Dell Welton

Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to third-year defenseman, Dell Welton. For the last two seasons, he’s played behind older, more experienced rearguards. Coming into this season, he’s now the senior member of the defensive corps. He’s up for the task and ready for a leadership role. Other returning Bearcat defencemen are sophomores, Tanner Greatorex and Jacob Christie.

He came up through the Cape Breton West Islander Midget Program, He was a 2018 draft choice by the Bearcats and Charlottetown Islanders. He’s been a student of the game since reporting to the Bearcats, growing his game in all areas. His off-ice time was well spent, being named the MHL Scholastic Player of the Year, putting his name alongside Bearcat players who received this award – Donald Johnstone (02-03), Andrew Harmes (06-07), Alex Dalley (11 -12).

Phase 5
The implementation of Phase 5 and vaccine passports on October 4th will have implications on sporting activities. Stay tuned for announcements from the MHL and the RECC.
