Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to veteran goalie, Alec MacDonald. He backstopped the Bearcats to two wins last week, a 4-2 win over Yarmouth in Truro and a 3-0 win in Bridgewater. In total, he turned aside 68 of the shots directed his way. That’s giving your teammates the chance to win. Coming into this week, He’s second in MHL wins with 16, and the busiest of all MHL goalies. The 2016 Bearcat Territorial pick is in his fourth and final Bearcat season.
The shutout win over the Lumberjacks was his 55th Bearcat win. Placing him ninth in career wins in the MHL. Being in the Top 10 is clearly an honour and he joins former Bearcat goalies, Jacob Fancy, first with 71 wins, and Kirk Rafuse, who sits second with 69. Goaltending has always been a Bearcat strength since re-entering the League back in 1997. It appears MacDonald played his 100th game that night as well. That’s a solid four-year contribution.
