Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to second year goalie, Alec MacDonald. He got the nod in both weekend games posting a 6 – 0 win over Valley and coming up short in the 3 – 1 Amherst game. For the weekend, he turned aside 61 of the 63 shots directed his way. He comes into this week with 19 games under his belt, compiling a 2.63 GAA and 0.932 SV%. He was 3 rd Star in both games.
He got his hockey start in the Truro Minor Hockey Program through to a two year stint with the Truro Major Bantam Bearcats. He followed this with a season of U 18 hockey with the Newbridge Academy Program. Next up was a year with the Weeks Midgets, which included four games as a call-up with the Moncton Wildcats. Last year, as a rookie Bearcat, he played 12 games posting a 2.13 GAA and a 0.920 Save Percentage. He also had opportunity to show his wares with Moncton. The 2016 Bearcat Territorial and Chicoutimi pick has his name on the Young-Knickle Award for the MHL Top Goaltending Duo, shared last year with Kevin Resop, and this year played with the Eastlink All-Star team at the Eastern Canada Hockey Challenge.
