The Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to forward,G Blackmore. He helped his team offensively in all three games last week, picking up 2 goals and 4 assists. His speed and contribution in all situations is fully recognized. He, and line-mates, Shawn Bily (7 points) and Gavin Hart (3 points) have been clicking, at the right time.
He got his hockey start in the Truro Minor Program through to the Bantam level playing with the Major Bantam Bearcats. He spent one season with the CEC Cougars before a two year stint with the Weeks Midgets. In the first season, he picked up 15 goals and 16 assists. He lit it up in year two, scoring 75 points (28 goals and 47 assists) and awarded Most Points, Most Assists and NSMMHL MVP.
He also got time in 8 Moncton Wildcat games in that 2016-2017 year and, as an affiliate with the Bearcats, picked up 9 goals and 5 assists in 15 playoff games en-route to a MHL Championship and Fred Page Cup exposure. He spent all of last year with the Moncton Wildcats. He brings plenty to the table, and as an Assistant Captain is leading by example.
