The MHL Regular Season Schedule is now out of the way.
The Truro Bearcats wrapped up their end with a loss in Summerside (March 6), followed by a win at home against Valley on Saturday (March 8).
The Bearcat-Capital game was a dandy, one that could have gone either way. It was a battle all the way, but the Capitals pulled out the win with a powerplay goal in the first minute of OT.
The Bearcats like the way they played, against the top team in the Division.
The Valley game, in most ways was a game the Bearcats wanted to get through and move on. Truro went with an abbreviated lineup, for several reasons.
The Bearcats took a 4-2 lead into the third period, and it stood for the win. The mission was accomplished.
Prior to the start of that game, the Bible Hill Kinsmen presented $3900 to local non-profit organizations bringing the twenty-two-year total to $98,700.
Head Coach, Jon Greenwood, acknowledged Bearcat graduating players with the presentation of individual action portraits.
Post-Season play is about to begin. The First Round matchups are now clear. In the South, Summerside (1) faces Pictou County (4) and Amherst (2) faces Truro (3).
In the North, Edmundston (1) faces Miramichi (4) and West Kent (2) faces Campbellton (3).
Simply put, the first team to pick up twelve wins will be off to Calgary in early May to play in the Centennial Cup.

The Bearcats finished a very respectful third in the Division. That’s impressive considering the season’s 1-9 start, and they’re ready for what lies ahead.
The Bearcat-Rambler matchup has great potential. In their head-to-head matchups, they’re even with four wins apiece.
In those eight games, each has scored 22 goals against the other. They’ve matched up well.
All indications have the Best-of-Seven series to start in Amherst on Saturday (March 15), with Game 2 back in Truro Tuesday (March 18).

Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to Benjamin De Jonge who led the Bearcats to the 4-2 win over Valley scoring a natural hattrick. What an impressive way for a graduating player to cap off his junior regular season play.
