Bearcat Banter: Regular Season Wrap Up

The Truro Bearcats wrapped up February on a five game win streak.

Thursday, the visiting Amherst Ramblers gave the Bearcats plenty to think about as they fell 6-4 in a playoff type game that saw both battle to the very end.

Truro had a strong start before the Rambler push back put things in doubt; however, Truro’s persistence and goaltending won the day, giving Truro their fourth win in seven meetings.

Liam Welsh led the way for the Bearcats, scoring two and picking up an assist, while defenceman Logan Quinn picked up his second game winning goal of the season.  Louca Connolly was credited with the win.

Saturday, the Bearcats earned their fifth win of the season against the Valley Wildcats.  Truro scored in bunches enroute to the 6-1 win.

Six different players picked up goals in this one.  Rookie, Sam Berthiaume earned the win.

Twelve goals in two games hit a high for the defence first Bearcats.  Key to both wins was Special Team play.  Truro scored five in eight opportunities, several could be highlight quality.

League play ends Sunday.  Truro is in Amherst Saturday, looking to encounter another strong push from the Ramblers.

Sunday, the Bearcats will be in Berwick to conclude their seasons.  The Wildcats will attempt to play the spoilers right to the end.  This game gets underway at 3:00 pm.

The Bearcats recognized their seniors who have completed their junior eligibility at last Saturday’s game.

Appreciation goes to each who gave fans their best, regardless of the length of stay.

As expected, the finalization of playoff positions will be determined this week.
