Bearcat Banter: Reality Sets In

The first Annual Metal Fab All-Star event proved to be successful.

The Bearcat representatives did very well.  Forward Isaac Arsenault scored a pair of goals to lead the South Young Guns to an 8-4 win.  He was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.

The Senior Stars game saw the North pick up a 3-2 Shootout win.  Bearcat goalie, Jack Milner was named Top Goalie, turning aside all 18 shots directed his way.  Bearcat Captain, Zachary Marquis picked up a goal in the losing effort.

Due to the early deadline of the Bearcat Banter, there is no report available for the Bearcats’ Saturday (February 15) game in Yarmouth, and the Monday (February 17) game in Fredericton.

The Bearcats will be back in action Wednesday (February 19) when the Amherst Ramblers are in town for the eighth and final regular season meeting.  The Ramblers have won four of the previous seven meetings.

Friday (February 21) will see the Summerside Capitals at the RECC for their seventh head-to-head matchup.  The Caps were winners in the previous six.  The final meeting between the two is slated for Summerside on March 6.

There aren’t many games left in the regular season schedule.  For some players on all teams, the end of season represents the end of their junior eligibility.  The Bearcats have seven players who will age out.

Zachary Marquis spent three seasons in the QMJHL split between The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Quebec Remparts.  The Levis, QC native has not disappointed as a Bearcat, being named Team Captain and current leading scorer.

Philippe Fauchon quickly established himself as one of the top defencemen in the MHL.  The Levis, QC native patrolled the blueline with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada the last three seasons.  His impact was immediate.

Owen Sparkes came to the Bearcats in the off-season from the Amherst Ramblers.  The Bay Roberts native previously played in the SJJHL with the CBN Stars.

Benjamin De

They came from all directions but became Bearcats.  The community thanks them for their contributions and wish them all well.
