The Truro Bearcats wrapped up their pre-Christmas schedule with a pair of big wins.
Thursday, the visiting Pictou County Crushers opened with the only goal of the first period. The Bearcats scored three unanswered goals in the second, going on to pick up an impressive 5-2 win, their fourth in the five meetings between the two.
Hats off to rookie forward, Austin Hoyt, who scored a pair, including the winner. This was his first multi-goal game, finally being rewarded for his gutsy play. Credit as well to Louca Connolly who turned aside 18 of 20 shots directed his way to pick up his fourteenth win of the season.
Saturday, the Bearcats scored three goals on their first four shots, then put the pedal to the metal en route to a convincing 7-1 win over the visiting Summerside Capitals.
Eli Baillargeon led the way with his second hat trick of the year. All lines contributed to this huge win. Sam Berthiaume did his part, stopping 34 of 35 shots.
The Bearcats are doing things right. Team play and composure can never be overestimated. They combine to a strong, tenacious focus in both ends of the rink.
The Bearcats enter the Christmas Break first overall in the MHL, four points up on the Summerside Capitals. They’re in a good position, one they earned.
For the time being, all players are now at home with family and friends. They will want to get back to the rink to pick up from where they left off.
The Bearcat organization wishes all a safe and happy Christmas season and looks forward to seeing you on January 4th, when the Yarmouth Mariners come to town.
