The Truro Bearcats are pleased to announce the signing of 18 year old 6’8 defenseman Carter Ansems from the Chicoutimi Saguéneens.
The Canning, Nova Scotia product was originally a 5th round draft pick of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the 2020 QMJHL draft and an 8th round pick of the Bearcats in the 2020 MHL draft.
Ansems played 2 years with the Valley Wildcats in the NSU18MHL before making the Titan out of training camp for the 2021-22 QMJHL season. In his first Q season Ansems tallied 5 points in 31 games with the Titan. His rights were traded to Chicoutimi before the start of this season and he appeared in 22 games with the Saguéneens before making his way to Truro.
Carter describes himself as a physical, two-way defenseman who likes to join and create the rush. He says he is thrilled to join Truro and get started with a great group of guys!
Ansems will join the Bearcat lineup immediately and will be wearing #44.
