Bearcat-of- the-Week honours went to goalie, Jason Rioux. He did his best to keep his teammates in the game last Saturday, turning aside 40 of 43 shots directed his way. He allowed no five-on-five goals.

He got his hockey start in his home town, located midway between Riviere-du- Loup and Rimouski. A move to Riviere-du-Loup game him the opportunity to play at a higher Level in Bantam and Midget. After Christmas in his third midget season with the College Notre Dame Albatros, he signed with the Moncton Wildcats, getting the opportunity to play 9 major junior games. He spent all of the 2014-2015 season with the Wildcats, suiting up for 17 games and compiling a 4.26 GAA. The 2012 Val d’Or Foreurs draft pick came to the Bearcats last May via a trade with the Commandos. He’s been a welcomed addition to the current Bearcats.

The 2016 MHL Showcase will be held at the RECC and Colchester Legion Stadium from October 9-October 11. All teams play two games which count in the standings. The Bearcats will face the South Shore Lumberjacks (Oct.9) and the Pictou County Crushers (Oct.10).

Truro’s lone home game of this weekend will be Saturday, 7:00 pm at the RECC. The Valley Wildcats will provide the competition.
