Bearcat-of- the-Week honours went to third year defenceman, Riley Baggs. Scoring points has not been his forte but when he does score, itís usually a big one. In Saturdayís 4 Ė 3 OT win over the visiting Dieppe Commandos, it was his tying goal with five (5) seconds remaining on the clock to force the extra session. Thatís whatís called a huge goal.

He got his hockey start in the Conception Bay Regional Program working his way through the classifications to the Bantam level when he joined the CBS Renegades for a season, followed by one with the Marks Dakota Wild, winning Provincial Bantam honours. Next up was a pair of seasons with the St Johnís Maple Leafs.

The 2014 draft pick gave the Bearcats a coveted right shot and a sound understanding of defensive zone play. His game grew each season. Last year he was one of two Bearcats named to the MHL All-Star team which competed in the Eastern Canadian Junior ďAĒ challenge. Thereís no surprise he was named this year to the Eastlink South entry in the Challenge.
