Effort doesn’t always get rewarded but persistence does. Moody gets the Bearcat-of-the-Week honours for his offensive contribution in Truro’s two win weekend. He picked up two goals, including the winner, in the 4-1 win over Summerside, then added one goal and three assists in the 6-5 victory of the Pictou County Crushers. That’s just payment for the effort displayed in every game this season.

He got his hockey start in the Western Valley Minor Program working his way through the ranks to the AAA Bantam Program. In his single season with the Kings Mutual Major Bantam Wildcats, his 30 goals and 30 assists in 33 games played drew keen attention. In 2011-2012, his only Valley Midget Wildcat season, he picked up 20 goals and 22 helpers to lead the team. The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles drafted him at the end of that season.

He played all of 2012 – 2013 with the Screaming Eagles, then had his rights traded to the Quebec Rempart. He was a Rempart for the last three seasons including the Memorial Cup Tournament in 2015. In all, he brings 250 Major Junior games’ experience to the Bearcats who drafted him as a “flyer” in 2013. Truro’s foresight and patience have paid off. It was just a matter of time before he found his range.

The Bearcats have added rearguard, Leon Denny, to the lineup. The 16 year old played last year with the Cape Breton Midget Tradesmen and was a Cape Breton Screaming Eagle draft pick last June.

Saturday, 7:00 pm, the Dieppe Commandos make their only regular season stop in Truro to face the Bearcats.

Sunday, the Bearcats are off to Berwick to face the Valley Wildcats. That game gets underway at 2:00 pm.
