Bearcat-of- the-Week honours went to rookie defenceman, Leon Denny. He played a strong role in all three games last week. In the 3-1 road win Bridgewater, he picked up his first MHL goal. In Saturday’s OT loss to the same Lumberjacks, he scored once and assisted on one other. There’s a strong offensive side to complement his natural defensive instincts. He made his Bearcat debut on October 22 and quickly saw action in all situations.

The young rearguard came to the Bearcats after playing eleven games this year with the Cape Breton Midget Tradesmen. Last year, as a rookie Tradesmen, his play attracted the attention of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles who drafted him in the Second Round of the 2016 Draft. Prior to his midget experience, he had two solid seasons at the Major Bantam League. In 2014-2015, he scored 13 goals and assisted in 22 others to lead the Breton Cougars Major Bantams. He made the First All Star Team and recorded Most Points by a Defenceman (35). The well rounded blueliner is a perfect fit for the Bearcats.

Tonight, the Bearcats are in Woodstock to face the Slammers (7:30 pm).

Saturday night, the team plays the County Aces in St. Stephen.

The Bearcats don’t have a home game scheduled until November 18th.
