Bearcat-of- the-Week honours go to defenseman, Mark O’Shaughnessy. He picked up an assist in the win over Summerside but put forth stalwart efforts in both games to end the week. That was his first point since the opening week of the schedule and clearly missing two full months took its toll. Since returning to the lineup on December 15 th , he’s gradually regained his game. He’s resumed his regular minutes in all situations, at the right time.

He joined the Bearcats eight games into last season via a trade with the Prince George Spruce Kings (BCHL). He came up through Prep School Hockey in the Canadian Sport School Hockey Leagues before landing in Junior “B” with the Kootenay Storm. He had a strong season in 2015 – 2016 with the Merritt Centennials (BCHL), starting again last year with that team before the trade to Prince George. The decision to come East was a good one for him and the Bearcats. Last year with Truro, he scored 3 and assisted on 11 others in 30 games. His 2 goals and 7 assists in the 17 playoff games helped the Bearcat run to its fourth MHL Championship. He’s part of that Championship core which vividly remembers that playoff run. That group wants another one.

Tonight, the Bearcats are in Bridgewater to face the South Shore Lumberjacks. That game gets underway at 7:00 pm.

Sunday, Truro is in Amherst for a 2:00 pm start against the Ramblers.
