20, Forward

Bearcat-of- the-Week honours go to team captain, Campbell Pickard. While no games were played in recent weeks, he’s prepping to lead the Bearcats down the stretch to playoffs. Securing a spot in post-season play, and arriving there at the top of their game, are high on his list. He entered January with a team leading 19 goals and 20 assists, tied for third in MHL scoring. He leads by example.

He was acquired via an August trade with the Miramichi Timberwolves. He finished last year with 60 points and was the top scorer in the playoffs with 10 goals and 13 assists in 15 post-season games. The former Halifax Midget Titan was a 2013 Baie-Comeau Drakkar draft pick who spent much of the 2013-2014 season with the Bridgewater Lumberjacks. The next two seasons were split among the Drakkar, Acadia-Bathurst and Moncton. For sure, he’s a top drawer forward, respected by teammates and opponents and ready to lead the way to a playoff run.

Fans attending Friday’s Bearcat game can pick up a 2018 Bearcat Calendar. The Bearcat organization thanks the Truro Daily News and participating businesses for
their great support.

Tonight, the Bearcats host the Edmundston Blizzard. That game gets underway at 7:00 pm.
